Ezio conceives of wine starting from tradition, but wisely investing in innovation and modernization of wine making equipment.

Poggio Ezio is a Piedmontese winery born in the Tortona hills in Vignole Borbera, an Italian town in the province of Alessandria, in a valley wedged halfway between the Piedmont and Liguria regions. The area has historically been characterized by being a region where viticulture has always been practiced, but that starting from the second post-war period, also due to a general depopulation of the valley, viticulture was gradually abandoned, and with it also cultivation of the native variety Timorasso.

Timorasso is an autochthonous white grape variety typical of the Colli Tortonesi area, in the municipality of Vignole Borbera; the progressive abandonment of viticulture in the area entailed a risk of extinction of the variety, an event that was avoided thanks to the initiative of Poggio Ezio and other small winemakers in the area, who managed to recover the vine and give it new luster. Precisely Timorasso represents the basis of most of the cuvées proposed by the Piedmontese winemaker, present in both still and sparkling versions, as well as an expression of the sub-area of the Tortonesi Hills such as the Terre di Libarna.

The Piedmontese winemaker, belonging to the third generation who took over the winery founded 50 years ago, has adopted a typically natural philosophy, minimizing invasive interventions in the vineyard and making use of modern technologies for the various activities carried out within the cellar. The owned vineyards, 6 hectares in total, are entirely cultivated within the Borbera Valley, characterized by an altitude of 400 meters above the sea level, for an annual total of about 30 thousand bottles.
