The company was set up in 1961 through the enterprising spirit of Alfredo Carrai. Alfredo was so fascinated by the world of tea that, despite his tender age, he decided to accept the challenge of introducing into Italy the consumption and culture of a drink that was practically unknown at the time. The desire to enhance his knowledge of the second most-widely drunk beverage in the world led him to perform numerous journeys in quest of the rarest teas and the finest harvests, without ever losing the awareness that there is always another tea waiting to be discovered and savoured. Alfredo’s first trips to China read like a daunting adventure story, beset with a thousand difficulties, in search of white teas or the precious teas of Yunnan, the first tricky negotiations with the plantations of Darjeeling, the emotion at the tasting of the first Gyokuro… And then there’s the satisfaction of opening up the true world of tea to the Italians, accustomed to the sporadic consumption of black tea in bags. From the first packages of the SNAKE label (later changed to SNAK), to the importation of tea in the packaging of the country of origin, through to the creation in the 80s of the brand La Via del Tè as a tribute to the Japanese tradition of the Cha-no-yu, which has its foundation in the Chado, that is “La via del tè”.

Fresh and light mixture of Chinese green tea Special Gunpowder, green tea Chun Mee. The healthy properties of green tea, rich in antioxidant polyphenols, are combined with those of the ginger, known for its digestive and anti-inflammatory action.
It is a tea usually served in Japan to children as breakfast, because of the low caffeine content and for the special agreable taste due to the rice popcorns added to the green tea basis. The green tea used is often Bancha. Genmai means rice, Cha means tea.

A sweet blend of green teas and flower petals with the scent of lemon, fig and grapes, inspired by the Giardino dell'Iris in Firenze, a place that leaves a poetic impression of the city. Iris is the emblem flower of the city, and this strong link reflects in this garden: a place of innumerable suggestions and a thousand colours, built on the east side of Piazzale Michelangelo, as a guardian that overlooks the city.
The name Gyokuro is often translated into precious dew or jade dew to remind its intense green color. The first two young leaves and buds are harvested in spring, from bushes that are shaded twenty days before. It is presented in fine dark green and translucent needles pine. It is a tea that is traditionally offered to special guests, prepared in small porcelain teapots and served in small cups of the same material. It is a tea rich in antioxidants and one of the teas that contains more L-Theanine, amino acid modulator of the brain's alpha waves, which induce "relaxation" and balance the action of caffeine. It is therefore a precious ally of our health. It comes with thin leaves, worked in the form of pine needles.
